The Village of Milford is an old mill town on the Huron River, with a walkable downtown and older houses on modest lots, many of them on streets that climb away from the river. Milford Township around it is far more rural: larger parcels, wooded hills near Kensington Metropark, and a lot of long gravel driveways.
Gravel is the point to mention. An operator plowing gravel sets the blade on shoes or skids so it rides above the surface, and plows a little higher, leaving a thin layer rather than scraping stone into the lawn.
